Socialist Bernie Sanders became a meme from morning to night thanks to the viral magic of social media, his mittens, and Inauguration Day at Washington, D.C.

Sanders, 79, became — again — the internet sensation when he was photographed in a parka and his famous hand-knite mittens during Biden Inauguration.

According to Apollo Magazine, the mittens were gifted to the Vermont senator by a schoolteacher. It had been knitted from repurposed woollen jumpers and plastic bottles, following the progressive view in politics that the socialist politician preaches.

A now-iconic photo of a bundled-up Sanders, sitting alone in a folding chair with his arms and legs crossed, immediately became a hit — especially in his New York City hometown.

Meanwhile, others digitally inserted the socialist into iconic pictures, movies and TV shows: sitting on a bench next to Forrest Gump, hanging out on the planet Hoth in “Star Wars” and sitting on the throne from “Game of Thrones.”
He also got showed up on classic album covers — and as the person selling merch at a concert.
Someone even took the liberty of making a Snapchat filter of Sanders.
